Applications for the EU Blue Card are now being accepted!
The Migration Department of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection of the Republic of Cyprus issued a press release on July 4, 2025, announcing that it will start accepting applications for the European Union (EU) Blue Card from Monday, July 7, 2025.
The EU Blue Card serves as a residence permit that enables highly qualified workers from non-EU and non-European Economic Area (EEA) countries to live and work in the Republic of Cyprus and other EU member states, with the exception of the Kingdom of Denmark and Ireland.
Individuals holding an EU Blue Card issued by the Republic of Cyprus are granted the following rights:
- Entry, re-entry, and residence in the Republic of Cyprus.
- Access to highly qualified employment.
- Equal treatment with Cypriot citizens regarding working conditions, education and training, social security, etc.
- Family reunification with permits that match the duration of the EU Blue Card holder’s permit.
- Accumulation of residence periods in various member states to qualify for EU long-term resident status.
The EU Blue Card will be issued in the Republic of Cyprus for highly skilled employment in these sectors:
• Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)
• Pharmaceuticals (for research purposes only)
• Shipping (excluding ship captains and crew)
Further, to obtain an EU Blue Card in the Republic of Cyprus, the minimum gross annual salary is set at €43,632.
